Hello all! I'm back with another #favoritenonfiction! This week my pick is River of the Gods: Genius, Courage and Betrayal in the Search for the Source of the Nile by Candice Millard. I found this one fascinating, especially Richard Burton. He was fluent in 29 languages, traveled widely, and was a decorated soldier. While some of his techniques were par the course for the times he was, at times, ahead of his time in his desire to learn and respect other cultures. In the search for the source of the Nile he and John Speke were definitely at odds with each other. Speke went on to completely tarnish Burton's reputation over honestly ridiculous fragile man ego. I found this interesting and, at times, an entertaining read. The fact that these two even survived the initial journey is insane. So much sickness and attacks along the way, only to not find the source and have to go do it all over again. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58777696-river-of-the-gods
