Last night I got into my stack of library book holds (see previous post) and WOW what a time to be alive! I’m a mood reader and will often read the first few chapters of a book to see which I’ll get into and apparently I’m in the mood for ALL the books! I didn’t see a currently reading group so I hope it’s okay to post this in the general board. Initial thoughts: 📚Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibañez: I love Goose Girl retellings and was in book depression when I finished Thorn by Intisar Khanini—yes read it! This Bolivian inspired Goose Girl is ticking all the boxes for fairy tale inspired books that I love. 📚The Sisters in the Winter Wood by Rena Rossner: I saw this on a list for Jewish authors shared in the Diversity reads group and I’m SO glad I found it. Folkloric Jewish story set in an enchanted forest—yes please! It’s giving me Katherine Arden vibes with a dash of Naomi Novik. 📚Rising Like a Storm by Tanaz Bhathena is actually book 2 in The Wrath of Ambar duology. I wasn’t sure about the first book Hunted by the Sky bc it had a slow start but it did get better and the second book is off to a promising start—daughter of the Sky Goddess, Gul is learning how to wield her death magic against the tyrannical Queen. And I’m here for it! 📚The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern: I had this on my TBR but didn’t check it out until now bc it had shown up on my Nest feed several times as a fav read! I’ll admit, I enjoyed The Night Circus but wasn’t blown away 😅 so I didn’t rush out to read this one. But I trust my fellow nesters! It’s a slow start but it feels like it’s going to get good soon. So excited for these books! And also I LOVE THE LIBRARY
