Y'all already know what time it is š Day 9 (??!!) of the 12 Days of Bookmas! I am once again bending the rules to bring you three - yes, THREE! - of my favorite Beauty and the Beast retellings. BatB was always my favorite Disney movie and I have read a truly shocking number of retellings, but these are the ones I always come back to. The McKinley is the most traditional and sticks pretty closely to the story. The Shea is actually one I originally picked up in the free section of Kindle many moons ago and loved it so much, I bought the physical book. In this one, Belle's equivalent is actually a spy for the crown, which makes for a super fun twist. Absolutely adore this version; it's funny and has some quirky details, but keeps the spirit of the original. If you're only going to read one of these, do the Shea!! For the Wolf is a combo Red Riding Hood and Beauty story and is a super lush, dark fantasy retelling of both fairytales. Also really good, but is the loosest adaptation. On an unrelated note, did I mention the one by Shea is fabulous? š¤©
