A Dario’s Bookish Review💮 Book: To Gaze Upon Wicked Gods by @mollyxchang Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ First and foremost! Isn’t that cover stunning? I always tell people that I’m for sure one of those readers that the cover can decide if I pick it up or not. This cover is colorful, powerful and speaks of history. Love it! Guys this book put my emotions through a blender! I found myself angry at parallels between real world dark history and the plot of this book. People being driven out of homes from invaders , those invaders giving drugs to these people and reading how devastating these drugs destroyed these people. The main character Ruying has the magic of death and must work with one of her oppressors princes when he discovers her magic. When he threatens her family she has no choice but to play along with his ploy to get more power under his belt. The main thing I loved about the main character was her realness. Molly painted her as flawed character that sometimes doesn’t make the best choices but the core of her need to protect her family and in turn her people make her someone you root for and wanna smack on the back of the head at the same time. Overall this book made me feel and those are the best books. Even if it is a lot of sadness and anger but for sure hope mixed in there. My hands ache to get ahold of the sequel to see where this story and world go. Again a good sign. Would I recommend it? Yes!!
