Here are two lists of basic review structures I personally use when I am trying to compose my thoughts for a book review. The topics in each list are not in a set order. ----- 》Minimum Review: ~Pick a minimum of three topics for three separate sentences. • Three descriptive words. • Did the story read fast or slow. • Writing style. • Characters (development, relationships, dynamics). • Plot/Pacing. • Theme(s). • Tropes-Familiarity/Newness. • If I didn't like anything. • Aesthetics. • Overall thoughts on how I enjoyed the book. ----- 》Thorough Review: ~Pick a minimum of five topics for five separate sentences. • Content Guide (if applicable). • New read from author or author I have read from before. • Three descriptive words. • Did the story read fast or slow. • Writing style. • Characters (development, relationships, dynamics). • Plot/Pacing. • Theme(s). • Tropes-Familiarity/Newness. • If I didn't like anything. • Target Audience. • Aesthetics. • Reread? • Recommend. • Overall thoughts on how I enjoyed the book.
