Reading Updates ----- I finished Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys last night. I did not want to put Salt to the Sea down, and I was very moved by this compelling story. Salt to the Sea is a historical fiction based upon WWII. The story is told through multiple perspectives; people from different backgrounds. Each perspective was very distinct and had their own personalities. There are some dark and intense themes due to the fact that this story is set within a time of war. I highly recommend Salt to the Sea to readers who enjoy historical fiction. I will have a review on my Goodreads soon. ----- I'm currently reading Speak No Evil by Liana Gardner. I don't want to put it down. Speak No Evil is quite different from what I would usually read. The story is told through the perspective of a 16 year old girl, Melody, who does not speak, not because she hasn't learned to, but due to the horrific events she has been through and seen. She has been bounced around house to house while in the foster care system. We follow her journey through the present and past timeline. On the present timeline, a seemingly helpful doctor is trying to help her work through her issues so that maybe she will speak again. I can't wait to see how the story goes. I'm on page 84, Chapter 17. ----- I haven't chosen my next read yet. Because I only planned to finish Babel by R.F. Kuang, this month, which I did, I'm mood reading for the rest of the month.
