This week's Favorite Non-Fiction is Bonk: The Coupling of Science and Sex by Mary Roach! Honestly, Mary is the queen of scientific writing for us regular people. So of course I needed to check out Bonk, which explores scientific studies related to sex. And it did not disappoint! You learn about women, men and couples together... everything from the science behind orgasms to sex toys and surgeries. I will say maybe skip the penile surgery chapter if you are squeamish. My one caveat to this recommendation is that this book was published in 2008, so we really could use a new book to cover how many advances (and sometimes the lack thereof in the case of women's health studies) have been made in the last 15 years. Maybe that's my next project.
